Hartson A. Cook, 88, of Oceanport, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Asbury Park, he lived in Allenhurst before moving to Oceanport in 1986. He was the owner of Hartson A. Cook Sales a company that provided Police and Fire Equipment. After receiving a degree from Monmouth College, he served as a Combat Corpsman with the Fourth Marine Division in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Hartson represented most leading manufacturers of fire apparatus in the State of New Jersey as a salesman for over 40 years. His passion for public service led him to the Allenhurst Fire Department, where he served as Chief and instructed First Aid procedures with the Red Cross for over 25 years. He later volunteered in the fire service with the Pinebrook Community Hose Company and worked as a Fire Inspector in Tinton Falls. Hartson was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Asbury Park. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Miller Cook; two sons and a daughter-in- law, Stuart and Shelly Cook, Fallon, Nev., and Scott A. Cook, Howell; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Ronald Domalewski, Virgina Beach, Va.; a brother, George W. Cook; his sister, Janet Cimino; three grandchildren, Che, Lisa and John; and his great-grandson, Stuart. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
